So, my long, drawn-out Kemper adventure continues and, as can be seen, I gave into the lure of an FRFR and got this Matrix Element FR12P (passive) for my Kemper PowerHead.
I tried the Yamaha DXR-10 and didn't like the sound of it (and, truthfully, the look) as it sounded a little
artificial (ironic, I know). The Matrix sounds so much more open and like a real guitar cab.
I don't know why and don't really get their use of the phrase 'tonewoods' when describing it, as it would appear a somewhat illogical thing for a 'flat response'. Whatever, it looks like a cab (which helps my transition into the land of the digital) and sounds great.
I feel much happier with 'plug and play' with most profiles with this cabinet. It
does need tweaking but feel a lot less overwhelmed. Happy days.

Undoubtedly, and unsurprisingly, does not kick through in a band mix like a real cab. The rest of the band had no issues but I didn't feel like I had as good a sound as when I used my little Zilla. I hooked up to the PA which helped me get a better mix, and I've no doubt it's going to sound as good to an audience, but the cab appearance will likely mislead a few.
EQ tweaks will likely get me there. I just need to find time to do it.

Take a look at this...could be a good bet for one last (expensive (but returnable to Hotrox)) try! :-)
