We have a new distribution deal for some rather fancy beers

They have just appeared in our staff shop this week, just after i got my latest allocation of beer points.

I have blown all the points on this little lot withotu spending a penny (okay, its a taxable benefit so in real terms this probably cost me a tenner spread over the year)



I wasn't expecting to see these for a while, so I recently brewed my own 8.5% Dubbel - I have 30 bottles of that.

hmmm I've just heard there's been a bad case of contamination at the trappist brewery and all the beer has been rendered unfit to drink. Tell you what, mail it all to me and I'll safely dispose it for you. There will no charge for this service.

I got fucked up on Trappist beer in Belgium one time headache for 3 days after, also drinking something called kwak iirc all ridiculously strong.

Yeah, kwak is one I have no tried yet.

the La Trappe stuff seems a good way in.  It is strong but it's not as much of an acquired taste as some.  Westemalle is another favourite of mine.   Some of the others are more of a challenge.

i much prefer a dubbel to a tripel.

More than a couple of those quadruples would put me in hospital. They taste immeasurably better than a Spesh too so you don't notice how pissed you're getting. Nice.

I let my dad have a try of my dubbel before bottling.  "Almost like a special brew" was his response.  Hopefully it will smooth out with a few weeks conditioning!

Remember drinking a few pints of Palm in Amsterdam, was pretty decent.
