I would say he blows Phil X out of the water, playing wise.

Clearly a great player but playing his own song doesn't help him for me. Half the joy of Phil X was seeing him have fun playing classic rock on old guitars.

Agree with stickyfiddle. Phil used to make me chuckle with his "inapropriate" choices, Eruption on a 335 anyone ?
