These fancy new Epi Firebirds...

After I saw this, I couldn't resist it and picked one up here in the States.   I have a Firebird III, but always loved one pickup guitars, so this seems a really nice version.  I got the sunburst, not really keen on the polymist finish.  I would have liked a white one though, but it's not an option.  btw, I'm 5' 10" and play a Thunderbird sometimes, so I'm not worried about the look.

So.... I went to Andertons to try the JoBo Epi and I found it a bit not so nice.   Well made, well set up but the thing was so weird, too light, too long.  I didn't much care for the pickup either, which seemed a bit one dimensional and shouty.
So.... I tried a Gibson 2016T, virtually the same but with two pickups.  Didn't like that much either, so I tried a Studio HP and an ordinary Studio, in fact every Firebird they had in the shop and I didn't much like any of them.
So.... I can say that I'm not a Firebird person.
