This is probably the most first world problems thread ever to grace tfb but has anyone got any recommendations for some really good jasmine green tea?

So far I've established that Twinnings is quite shit and whittard is pretty good but expensive and they don't have a shop near me.

Any ideas?

Right I'm back to my organic yhurt to practice fruitarian tai chi.

  • Whittards is decent, and although not cheap it's not the most expensive as far as I know.

I've bought from these guys before, it's similar in quality.

To be honest, I've not noticed the same extremes of quality as I have with coffee so you should be fine pretty much anywhere that's not twinings.

Sorry, don't like it. It always seems to taste like soap to me.

Do they not sell decent stuff in Chinese supermarkets?

Whilst I have never bought Jasmine tea from these guys, I buy my coffee and black teas exclusively from them. They roast their own coffee and have an encyclopaedic knowledge of coffee/tea. I could not recommend them enough. A small, very friendly shop just out of the centre of Perth.

Having a quick look, they have 3 different jasmine teas, and whilst the delivery is £3, it is a flat rate independent of quantity.

I love it. I'm substituting a couple of coffees a day for low caffeine teas as my moods have been pretty low, and coffee makes me feel worse.

It helped me enormously when I was told exactly how to brew tea, too. I would leave green tea to stew for way too long but it only takes a minute. Pueh takes about 9-10 seconds!

Seems a long way to travel for a box of teabags.

And don't use boiling water - 80C is about right for Jasmine Tea I think

I currently get my Jasmine tea from a local tea shop, The Hebden Tea Company, which is based on world famous street The Shambles in York. They have an absolutely huge collection, so it's worth having a browse. Link is below:

I'm with @ThePrettyDamned. I drink far too much tea and coffee, the latter of which makes me feel pretty shit if I drink too much of it. Jasmine tea is very light and palatable and makes a great substitute to hot beverages naturally high in caffeine.

Good range of teas at Wing Yip. Stores in Birmingham, Manchester, Croydon and Cricklewood. I go to the Birmingham one from time to time and it's great

I think its personal taste really. I like very strong tea, or smoky tea. I don't like a lot of Asian teas, that are more fragrant and less rich. I spend a fair bit of time out there (maybe 10 times a year), and as you'd expect, have had the "proper stuff". Its alright, but I'm just not really a fan of these sort of teas. I always take my own tea with me.

Turkish tea - now that's good stuff.

I've had Turkish tea, no idea how representative it was but it was lovely.

@EricTheWeary you tried turkish coffee? Its like ash flavoured tar. Thick, sweet cloying stuff. An err, acquired taste as they say....

There is a Turkish cafe in Harborne where they do amazing cakes and I've opted for the coffee a couple of times but I've given up now. I don't think they do the tea, I've had that in the Turkish restaurant near my sister's house in Coventry where they also make the most brilliant flat bread - hard to imagine such a simple thing can taste so good but they make it all fresh in the restaurant.
