Father John Misty

Father John Misty popped up on my spotify recommendations thing with a playlist of presumably his most played songs, have to say not really heard the name before but very enjoyable "music for the train into work" with a fair amount of 70s Lennon influences to my ears.

I don't know know anything about him but thought good to share a new find (although he's probably been popular for ages and I've been living under a rock as usual)

Without doing a google he was in Fleet Foxes wasn't he?
One of his tunes was in regular rotation on 6 music recently and I did like it muchly. I'm not very good at following up on these things though. I'm still busy listening to lots of dead people!

I've been a fan for a while, Honeybear is up there with my favourite albums of the last few years

I'd highly recommend a listen all the way through - it's beautiful

He was their drummer. If you're not familiar with the Fleet Foxes' debut then you're in for a treat. Stunning record.

He's a fantastic songwriter, very wry humour and a good sense of melody. The latest album strikes me as very early Elton John, not that that's a bad thing whereas the first album was more Beatles. All three albums are worth a listen and this latest has been on repeat in my house for the last week. Enjoy the new discovery.

Great artist, my current fav :)

His first album is still my favourite but the other two are still great in my opinion.

Will be seeing him live for the 3rd time this year, first gig was at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds with a capacity of under 500 and was one of the best gigs I've ever been to!

He's an interesting dude. Does emotive music as J Tillman & no one blinks (I love it anyway) rebrands as father john misty, adds cynicism & retro production from Jonathan Wilson and wham, indie darling.

I've listened to a bit of his stuff on Spotify today as J Tillman and to be honest I prefer it as Father John, I think the different mindset of those songs helps a lot
