I think beech. Our young lime tree has considerably lighter leaves than that.

I'd be surprised if it's beech. The leaf looks a bit too dark. Beech should be lighter, and slightly translucent. A lime leaf is more triangular, halfway to being the ace of spades. So possibly hornbeam, or maybe whitebeam given the colour of the trunk. Then again it could be anything non native to where I grew up.
