Valve Amp Experts Please Help (RAT Modified Blues Junior)

Hi,
I took out my RAT Modified Blues Junior the other Night. First set was fine with no problems but mid-way through second set, the amp just went "dead", I could hear a slight "crunching" sound when I tried to play but nothing proper.
I always keep a spare lead in case of problems so used this to plug straight in from guitar to amp (bypassing effects etc) but nothing was different and it still sounded (or not) the same!
Fortunately, the venue have a "house" amp and I was able to quickly set this up and finish the gig suing all my own leads and pedal board (nothing changed except the amp) .
The thing is, I tried the amp the next morning and it worked fine????? As I've said earlier, when I used the house amp nothing in my chain was any different. Could it be something "heat related"?
I'm at a loss for ideas - any help greatly appreciated!
