Mr Bojangles - A Great Ballad

I think I was ruined to this song by the god awful cover done by Sammy Davis Jr, but this version popped up on my youtube feed and I can't stop listening to it. Made me realise just what a great song this is, with some really great lyrics. Being a folky, I really like ballads, and this is up there. Anyways, enjoy, or not:

    I prefer Dylan's take but it's a great song.

Like so many great songs, there are many less than good versions… as well as several different great ones.

This one is probably my favourite.

That's Robbie essentially copying the Sammie Davis Jr one.
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

The original, by Jerry Jeff Walker, is my favourite version, although Nina Simone's is also good.

I like a lot of Robbie's work, and I don't even mind the 'Swing' album too much overall, but you're still right.

Blimey, Vim, I haven't heard that in years - great version!

All I remember of the Nitty Grity Dirt Band was a song called "Even Fat Boys Can Make It In Santa Monica" - I must have had it on a compilation album or something...
