I think the weight relief has gone a bit too far :)

Built by a quirky friend of mine .... this body was so heavy originally it now weighs like a normal Strat

He could have scalloped the neck and saved some more grams! And do you really need that middle pickup?

Looks like a big pretzel!  I can see the logic of doing that to a heavy guitar but you've got to have a steely eyed skill to do that work...hold on....pretzel logic - your friend's name isn't ...'Steely' Dan ...is it ?
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

    I actually really like that.

To the point that I might find an old pacifica and give it a try for fun.

Seriously I like the look of these weird bodies.  I'd also like to know if it sounds reasonable, if you got the chance to plug it in...

I didn't play plugged in but the maker Derek did, played a few Shadows tunes ... plugged into an AC30 ...sounded like any other Strat to be honest ... pickups are Bare Knuckle Apaches

It's amazing how much wood you can lose without it sounding that different

Not even going to comment on that after the earlier tonewood discussion(s).
It looks ace by the way.

It's a bit like a more extreme version of Russ Ballard's guitar.  I seem to recall Feline once made something quite similar.

Plenty of storage space for allen keys, picks etc...

I've seen pics of a few high tech looking bodies done like this before, and I do like the look of them.  (Usually those weird aluminium bodies and so on.)

I don't like it but I can't help admiring the workmanship that went into it.

    It's nothing that a new body… and neck… and pickguard... won't fix.
