Someone buy this. It's almost rude not to at that price.

If if not a dealer will snap it up and list it for a grand or more...

I ended up getting another Stephen Stern, this time was a 59 champagne sparkle Gretsch Masterbuilt duo jet. Here it is with the 59 penguin:

I'm quite happy with these, I love my Fenders and Gibsons but I was looking for a guitar that was not only different from any of these, but also had it's own character. Definitely didn't want the guitar to feel to me like it was halfway between something I was familiar with. Gretsch is a very different feel, sound and has it's own thing going.

Other brands that I feel have the same type of difference, would be danelectro and mosrite for example.

I'm definitely a Gretsch convert, amazing guitars.

The Starla is a rip off of a Corvette.  I'd get the Corvette over the Starla any day (I am indeed quite a fan of the Corvette).  Corvette has better pickups, is lighter, and got great spank and snap due to its thin body.

    Gretsches best kept secret.
