You can get a reasonably cheap sound bar and sub from Tesco or somewhere like that but it's worth checking which connections you have. Optical will give you the best sound but will need a more expensive cable.
PC speakers should be fine, going into a headphone jack or soundcard from the computer will then be your choice. If you're watching tv through your computer the latter will be fine.

Have a nose round your local Richer Sounds - I've got a pair of weeny Cambridge Audio mid/tweeters and a 10"x8"x8" sub that sound awesome for my iPod deck

My Dad uses them for monitors in his little home studio - decent sound and pack a bit of a punch for something so small.
