While on holiday this week, my HTC smartphone crashed. It still worked, kept time, received texts etc. but I could not access it, I could not switch it off. In short it was useless.
One of the guys in a phone shop rebooted it for me as I did not know how to perform this trick. Simply press and hold down the 'lower volume button' and the 'on/off button'. Sometime around a half minute later, the smartphone reboots.
Might be worth your while finding out how your smartphone is rebooted, just in case.....
