Extreme ironing (also called EI) is an extreme sport in which people take ironing boards to remote locations and iron items of clothing. According to the Extreme Ironing Bureau, extreme ironing is "the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well-pressed shirt."

There is nothing in current battery technology that could provide enough heat and duration to properly iron even one shirt and still be portable enough to be used in extreme situations.  Therefore I conclude it's not really a proper sport - it's more like professional wrestling.  It's fake.  They're not really ironing anything.  I want my money back.  BOOOOOOO !!!

About power - when I first heard of this (mid 2000s?) you didn't actually need power for your efforts to be considered "ironing".  Just doing the actions was enough.  At least that's how it was done then.

I think it's kind of a laugh actually.  I wondered if it's possible to iron while flying in a glider...

Those Pics look familiar, they have been doing the rounds a good few years now, I thought E.I. had become another fad that had passed. That said in my younger days I'd have been totally up for that.

Funnily enough I was thinking of four guys like Kraftwerk, etc. on stage ironing in a regimented robot-like manner and running sequencers from footswitches or something...
