Deleting a Comment You do not Wish to Post

Please excuse my lack of knowledge.

How do you delete a comment, or a reply to a quote in a thread, which you do not wish to post?

For example, when I enter a comment for my own original post, or when quoting someone’s post to reply to it, the system retains the text in the comment box even when I do not click on the Post Comment button. The system retains this information.

How do I get the system to clear this text?

Thanks.

Select all the text and hit delete, then put in a single character (like a fullstop) and hit save comment.

Or wait for it to save draft and then go to drafts and delete the draft.

If you haven't posted it yet just highlight it and delete.

Sometimes deleting the draft can be quite a faff, especially on a mobile - for some reason the link often doesn't work properly, and takes you back to the thread instead. Persistence can be required...

Just click "post comment" that's what I do, and let your drivel rain down on the forum.

  • Yes. Its not as if all the fretboards grammar police and pedants are going to gang up and ridicule you.       Much.

    Post first, think later.

That's how this forum works, no?

Thanks all. Your sense of humour has given rise to much laughter.

I previously tried some of the methods you suggested, but Sporky's solution of deleting any residual text via the Draft copy looks the best.

Actually, I can see the benefit of the forum system retaining the text typed in, for example, when one wants to take a break and return to a thread later.  However,  I tend to create a Word document and then copy and paste the text into a thread.

    Anyway, thanks again..

I wasn't sure about murmurs or mumblings, but I think I usually post my mumblings.
