The Canadian Band 'Tea Party' would qualify.
Ooh, if we're doing Canada then the Tragically Hip are also on the list

Cream were together for about 20 minutes, that hardly counts!
No. That's Blind Faith you're thinking of.

Love em or hate em U2 takes some beating .... the same band from school till men in their mid fifties

    Pedant alert ...

    U2 don't qualify ...

Dik Evans was the first guitarist followed by Ivan McCormick. The Edge was guitarist number three ... :-)

They were called The Hype then, so it still counts :p

Technically it wasn't as the band chose the name U2 when Evans was still part of the band. They played as a foursome at a talent show as Evans was doing exams and then had another gig as a five piece .. the Edge admits in an interview they had two guitarists for about 5 minutes as hype/U2.

For this iconic band a name change was the preferred option ...

If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Aerosmith? I suspect they had a couple of extras occasionally.

Didn't they do a full album/tour without Joe Perry in the early 80's?

Yes, but wasn't he in rehab ... not sure he officially left the band .. I think he had alcohol/drug problems .. could be wrong. This is a grey area - if someone stands while a member is ill do they count as a band member or are they a hired hand?

And I'll give you U2 ... the Edge's older brother didn't contribute anything .. I think the Edge was just being kind .. ;-)

Not sure on Perry, but drugs & booze loomed large over much of that period for the whole band, so it wouldn't surprise me. Though if we're going to that level of detail U2 technically had a different bass player for one night in Sydney on the ZooTV tour - Clayton was too wasted to play.

Different drummer on Bleach, wasn't it?
Yes - Dave Grohl didn't join until 1990. There were four other drummers before Grohl and originally there was another guitarist.
That was supposed to be a bad joke about KC leaving the band, obviously unrecognizabe even as humour. I have failed you all and will try some puns next time.
