What's your guilty pleasure music to run through when no one is around?

I have a thing for bashing out Whitney Houston songs on piano and singing along when no one is around. It's all a bit gay sounding what with the very female-centric lyrics, but there are some nice chord and key changes going on. I have a terrible voice but it sure is fun.

Hah, very topical - had a 2 hour journey back after a long day and singing at the top of my voice to Neil Diamond - the usual compilation album suspects.

Then realised I was doing the whole Neil Diamond singalong 20 years ago as a 20 year old student running to fro uni.

Maybe one one day I'll come into fashion!

  • Band: McFly. Good pop songs, well played.
    Song: Hanson- MmmmBop.

I also love playing an acoustic version of Blank Space by Taylor Swift at open mic sessions. It always gets a good (if incredulous) reaction.

    Judas Priest or anything NWOBHV.

Also death metal is still worryingly appealing to me in my early 30s, particularly the aptly named band, 'Death'.

The piano chords at the start of "Can't smile without you" are just great. (I can barely reach though)

I need to go and wash my hands now, after typing that :(

Come to mention it I used to do a classical guitar version of "Words" by the Bee Gees. I really should stretch my fingers and get back into classical properly... :(

Whenever I see Diana Krall, I'm always intrigued by what attracted her to multi-millionaire Ellis Costello....

Absolutely nowt wrong with that - the majority of the Death catalogue is some of the most sophisticated (ugh) metal in existence. As for Priest/NWOBHM(V?), that's liked from ages 8 to 80.

For me personally...I love a bit of early 90s dance/pop. Just nostalgia I guess. 'U Sure Do' by Strike is a wonderful tune.

Mate, I'm pushing fifty and still listening to Death, Obituary, and Morbid Angel.   No guilt involved, either.
