I'm a dad...sort of again

My baby daughter was born last Friday and had to go into care with lung complications.  However, after much frustration and anxiety, she came off the ventilator on Thursday and came home today.  So now, along with my five year old step son who I've raised since he was two, there are four of us.

Oh and I also scored a 1983 Fender Concert II (Rivera era) something I've wanted for about 10 years.

So, uh...yay us.

Which came out first? The baby or the Fender? 

I didn't get any nice surprises when mine was born... First thing I saw was a shock of ginger hair, then 12 years (so far) of money drain and bodily functions

Congrats OP. Glad to hear that the little one is safe and at home.

Kids are hard work I'm almost 36 hours into lookin after our 2 and 5 year old on my own. Just handed over to the wife...

I'm spent - women deserve a medal for doing this shit all the time.

Thanks chaps!  She's cute as a button and super quiet.  The only time she ever cries is when her nappy needs changing.  Clearly my wife's genetics rather than mine.



It was pretty damn stressful and anxiety levels were high, I have to admit.  I was holding this red faced squawky thing minutes after she was born (they never tell you about the smell, do they?) And she had to be moved into care that night after she didn't sleep well or stop crying.  We were told 10 days but on day 5 she made good progress and came off the ventilator.  My wife never got to hold her until we collectend her due to medical policy in the country where we live) so it was particularly upsetting for her.

I'll admit I never saw myself as a baby person, I prefer kids after the age of 3 when they have a bit of personality to entertain but that rule book got thrown out the window when she arrived.  She's got my blonde eyebrows, grey eyes and face shape but my wife's lips and cupid's bow.  The rest we're still figuring out.  So far its been fun!

@Bork she's a proper little sweetie!  Reminds me of my little granddaughter, now 20 months - it's amazing how quickly their little personalities start to develop - enjoy every second!
