(SOLD): Marshall 5005 Lead 12 - 1985 model, VGC. £80 Posted Via UPS

edited June 2017 in Amps £
EDIT: Price revised due to ebay examples being anywhere from £60-£125.

I got this from @impmann earlier this year. It had been away in an attic since 1985 before he got it so when I got hold of it I gave it to my local amp tech who serviced it and gave it the all clear.

**The 'Middle' Pot is still a little bit stiff but he says very serviceable. He quoted £45 to replace all 5 pots if I wanted to in future**

I cleaned up the vinyl Tolex with leather cleaning cream and I also had a close friend who's good at this sort of thing, replace the grill cloth with some genuine 'Marshall' cloth. I've included a photo to show how it's stapled around the edges, the way it was from the factory. The original white beading is intact and in fine condition.
The badge is original and was carefully removed and refitted. All 6 mounting points are intact and there are no cracks in it anywhere.
I replaced the 2 chassis screws with the correct genuine replacements as the old ones were rusty.

I spent ****ing hours polishing every rivet in all the corner mounting caps but as this amp is barely used and been in storage most of its life, there are no scuffs or cracks in the corners so it was a worthwhile job, it looks lovely.
The handle and feet look like new due to it never really having been transported anywhere.

It all works, no crackles and the original 10" speaker is in place.

It's in Bedford in you want to come and try it, I've got a Strat, LTD Eclipse or a Gretsch you can use to try it out and if you want to collect it, you can take it away for £70.
Otherwise I'll ship it with UPS for £80 all in and those who know me, know my packing skills..........be prepared for a fight getting into the box and unwrapping it!

I've JUST noticed a tiny (2mm) Nick in the Tolex on the lower right corner.
Easily glued back down and the only blemish in otherwise near-new condition Tolex.

Good luck with the sale - it sounded great before all this care was lavished on it.

    Thanks man,
It's quiet as anything until you hit a note,.........no crackles at all or background noise and all the pots are totally quiet when they're turned. The amp tech I took it to said it's all fine inside and I've included a gutshot as the chassis was out anyway.

I don't think I will ever forget cleaning and polishing the rust off those bloody rivets though !
    :)
