He's OK. Theresa May wants to exterminate him...

He was better than Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop but probably not as good as Rod Hull and Emu
    Russell Hartey liked Emu !

  • He was a bit of a cad as part of an evening's entertainment. Not quite sure exactly what he was there for though in hindsight. But then a lot of that era was like that, just sort of there just because...

The 70's were a bit bizarre after all!

Ahh, Basil Brush, beloved children's entertainer from the 70's - surely only pleasant memories... Does Yewtree investigate woodland mammals?

I think there was a remake in the 90s or early 2000s, my sister and I loved it when we were little.

Our cat is named Basil after him.

He was great wasn't he. I remember watching the remake with my kids when they were young and it was really funny stuff. A joy to watch :)

Yes, he was great. I think that whoever 'played' him did a superb job - basically hiding under a desk with your arm in the air, following a script but also superb ad libbing. And zero fame, to this day I don't know who it was.

What the hell are you talking about? He was a fox. Called Basil. He "played" himself. WYSIWYG

Basil Brush was brilliant, better than that Roland Rat rubbish that came along.

The one I couldn't handle though was Lord Charles, he scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

I was allowed to watch Basil Brush or Doctor Who.

One day we turned the telly on a few minutes early and Basil was doing a Doctor Who sketch. My parents saw it end and turned the telly off. So Basil can do one.

The creator of Basil Brush was called Ivan Owen. He wrote the scripts I think, and died before the reboot which is why is wasn't nearly as funny.
