Does anyone know Paul Gilberts string gauge he used for the low tunings on his Racer X songs.
I have been listening to loads of old racer x stuff and his playing........ Eg... Fire of rock. 17 moons. Poison eyes.
Those songs are tuned down I believe going by tab pro.
Cheers

    Yeah they're tuned down a whole step, I bet he used 10s on those tracks.

    He had a much better tone when he was using Laney amps IMO.   Especially on Technical Difficulties and Superheroes. He should go back to playing like that and that rig.

    Those aren't really "old" Racer X songs! :sunglasses:

    Go and ask on racerxband.com/board

    Someone on there will know, and the traffic spike will be appreciated.

    Was just listening to Poison eyes and some of the picking on that is mental, especially that string skipped part in the solo.

    @bingefeller That's me. That forum seems to be experiencing Technical Difficulties itself. :(

    I've just found loads of posts have no text at all.

    Lots of the people who used to post there have drifted away from guitar/music. :cry:

    @DLM I didn't see that post.

    I used to to be on there as bingefeller but I can't access that account anymore and it was tied to an old Yahoo email address I got rid of.

    @DLM do you remember that guy pgmpower on there?  I remember he was a young teenager and very talented.  Last time I saw him playing was when he entered some Steel Panther contest and he played a solo over Death To All But Metal.  I'd be interested to hear his playing now.

    @Bingefeller ;; I'm sorry to say that he resurfaced the other day and said he'd given up three years ago.

    @DLM ; can't believe it, that guy was super talented.

    Reminds me of a guy on the Bumblefoot forum, Ben Litchman, who had only been playing for 2 or 3 years and was playing in Bumblefoot's band at the age of 15 or 16.  He continued on playing guitar for a few years then went on to study other religious interests and gave up guitar.
