After the Tru Oil, I used a couple of applications of Briwax, and the guitar is good to go.



Pickups are Iron Gear Blues Engines, single volume control, no tone, 3 way pickup selector. Will see it's first action at a jam session at a local arts centre tomorrow.

looks good.  I feel your pain with spalt.   I have a body in the garage i have been carving the top on  for years -  okay, not constantly.   It gets flooded with thin superglue  every so often and we start again.  Its mostly solid maple, but had some really soft spongey patches.


i actually used to import a lot of really impressive spalted maple, but i started to see it as a purely aesthetic thing with no tonal or structural benefits at all and I don't think I have used it since

In action last Friday. Very easy to play, despite the heavy strings (although my fingers are still recovering).
