    Ok cool, I have a Taylor 414 electro acoustic, I could bring that and the Roland AC 60 , that's a cool combo. Electrics, Maybe a Parker, EBMM, Yamaha SG, Explorer, Rick ?....I have few others, what you think?

    I'd say the Taylor definitely............I have something I'd like you to back me on with that if you don't mind?
    I'll PM you about that.
    (Running around the room shouting "Get the Fuck IN !!")
    LOL

    Ahem.......

    After that, I'd say the Explorer and the Rick myself although I can't see anyone bringing a Parker or an EBMM so it's kind of up to you which you want to bring really?

    The Rick for sure.

    Wow, what a choice....
    Explorer, Parker or EBMM???

    @bridgehouse what say you?

    I wouldn't mind having a twang on a good acoustic. Other than my tanglewood dred, which is as near as damn it top of their range but still just a tanglewood, I've played a fairly nice Yamaha and a GS mini which is lovely but too small for me. Assuming of course that someone is willing to let me loose on theirs!

    If anyone is any good with internal buzz diagnosis, I've got what I think is an escaped wire inside causing a buzz on certain frequencies on my acoustic. If someone has the know how, I might chuck that in the car too.

    I can put your name on the reserve list?
    It's worked for two members in the last week or so.
    There's no guarantee but if you say yes now it might prove to have been worth doing later on?
    Up to you.

    Of course,
    No problem.

    The list itself is on page 1 of the 'Logistics' thread.
    I'll do it now for you.

    I think people have had plenty of time to suggest content for the workshops, so I'll make a proposal and people can comment yay or nay.

    I'd like to take three very basic chord progressions in simple keys, and use those chord progressions as the basis for workshopping 4 topics:
    1) Playing chords on fewer strings, e.g. power chords
    2) Strumming and muting patterns for rhythm guitar
    3) Adapting licks in solos to follow the underlying chord
    4) String-bending

    I think that covers the broad range of the topics that have been requested. More specific queries, e.g. adding vibrato to bends, I'll aim to cover in the session where the person with the query (not_the_dj in this case) is present.

    I'd like to repeat this plan for each workshop we do, but aim it at progressively more experienced players: so if we do two workshops the first could be for beginners and the second could be for beginners-plus to intermediate. Obviously anyone is welcome to observe any of the workshops.

    The approach I'd like to take is for a participant to play something and then to suggest the next step or two for that topic. It would therefore help if each participant were prepared to play something for at least one of the topics. Otherwise of course they would be welcome to attend the workshop as an observer rather than a participant.

    Does that sound OK to people as a general approach?
    Quite a few positive responses to this approach and no negative ones, so we'll make that the plan for the workshops.

    The three chord progressions I propose to use are all in the key of A minor / C major, and consist of a minor progression, a major progression, and a 12-bar blues. They are:

    Progression 1 in A minor -
    ||Am . . . |G . . . |D . . . |. . . . ||

    Progression 2 in C major -
    ||C . . . |Dm . . . |Am . . . |F . . . ||

    Progression 3: C blues -
    ||C7 . . . |F7 . . . |C7 . . . |. . . . |
    |F7 . . . |. . . . |C7 . . . |. . . . |
    |G7 . . . |F7 . . . |C7 . . . |G7 . . . ||

    Do those three chord-progressions seem OK as a basis to work from during the workshops?

    That sounds good.  Haven't tried some of them much yet, especially the 3rd progression so will be good to have something to aim for.  Thanks

    As and when (and If) reserve places become available and the list moves up I'll post in the Logistics thread where the list is and tag everyone concerned.

    We're limited on numbers as it stands right now but I can put your name on the reserve list if you like?

    We're going to have some 'Free-Form' Jam time as well and I agree, The key of E is probably the easiest and most productive to use.
