    What's an iron?

    It depends who you ask.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I remember as a kid, on a Sunday my mother would spend the evening ironing all the clothes and then hanging them up so they were ready to put on for the week.

I iron what I need to put on when I need it, seems pointless any other way.

I try and iron kids uniforms Sunday night for the entire week as I'm simply not a morning person

I just put dirty clothes in a laundry bin and after a while they magically get cleaned and ironed...

Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman, in which case always be Batman.
My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

That indeed is taking ironing everything to its limits.

We take turns doing the ironing in our house, when It's my turn I have a Wheeler Dealer fest to take my mind off the misery of ironing. No way I'd do underwear or socks.

We pay a lady to do it for us once a week. She very good. Outer clothes and bedding is a yes, underwear and towels are unnecessary.

I don't mind ironing shirts when I need to though. I even do them if I'm staying in a hotel. You can't go to a client in a crinkly shirt.

I know this is very mumsnet but as I do the ironing in chez Weary ... mostly shirts, often t shirts are good enough out of the tumble drier/ line. When I was a kid I used to practice ironing ( what a rebel...) by ironing handkerchiefs, can't imagine doing that now but it was quite satisfying at the time.
Just wow'd you because you're a man and you iron, which is normally a womans job.  Talk about role reversal.

    I like ironing.

We iron everything except undies & socks.

There is a therapeutic pleasure to be had in ironing shirts. There is a way.........

Iron inside out too, so you don't get shiny marks
^This. Put movie on Tele (something that doesn't need too much attention - The Hunt for Red October is ideal ironing fare). Turn shirts and tees outside-in. Iron.

Def agree about sheets. Crisp, uncreased, bed linen is one of life's little luxuries.
