Think this is a great video that just inspires me to use the Axe FX more, and it goes to show that incredible tone can be achieved by these digital units.

Enjoy

For anyone wondering, he uses an Axe FX, as seen in the video. But he's a fan of many types of modellers, as his YouTube channel clearly shows.

Soz, but I hated that, great tone or not. Some solos shouldn't be messed around with in my opinion and that's one of them. Pinch harmonics, whammy bar abuse, tapping and an Ibanez. Jesus wept.

MD: "hey can you take one of the most pedestrian solos of all time and inject some type of excitement into it?"
    Guitarist: "I'll have a go......."

" Why does it smell of bum?" Mrs Professorben.

  • Fair enough, to each their own. Nobody is going to do it like Gilmour, I'm always interested to hear other takes on it (except Scissor Sisters) because I know nobody will do it quite the way I love the way Gilmour does it.

Sorry, maybe I was a little harsh but as soon as I saw the Ibanez I knew exactly what was coming :D

I thought it started off ok to be honest - I hate complete copies of original solos- but then just a few "too many notes"...

Same here,  once he started trying to craminmorenotesthanwouldfit, the phrasing started to get a bit.....    off...........

Fair play though,  tones were alright.

No point in playing it like Gilmour. Gilmour's already perfected that style! It's one of the most perfect chord progressions to play over and I like anyone who adds their personality rather than tries to emulate DG.

I can understand it's not to everyone's taste, but back to the tone. Yeah, sat well in the mix and certainly worked for him.
