Toying with Selling my 65 SG

What's Hot

As per title but I have no idea of the value.

It started life as a 65 Gibson SG Junior however it has been modified to a SG Special, it has the original bridge pickup, volume and tone pots, Jack socket and bridge posts.

It suffered a neck break repair on the headstock and has had a refinish, it has Grover Milk Bottle Tuners, Kent Armstrong neck pickup, Faber Wraparound Bridge, Switchcraft 3 way switch, custom cut scratchplate and cts neck Vol and tone pots.

It has a wide thin profile neck, solid tuning and plays/sounds great.

What value do you guys put it at?

    Whatever someone will pay.
Get it listed n see what interest you get.
    I don't think you'll get much more than a 1000

I've recently sold my 1964 Junior. Like the above response, with the listed modifications you'd be looking at 900-950 depending on how much someone wants it.
Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud!

If that was left handed I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

    Nice guitar. GLWTS.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I'll do you a favour, because I'm a nice guy, and swap it you, for a newer one!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I agree, somewhere around £850-950 sounds about right given the repairs and replacement parts.

Agree with the values quoted. In a fairer world it would be worth more because it is supercool!

Wise. Probably one of those cases where you'd only end up looking for another one at those kind of prices.

I've just been sent some prototype locking studs for that bridge if you want them. Need testing out anyway.

I'm sure you know how well it plays - based on the prices suggested above, then I'd pretty much guarantee that you won't find a better vintage based SG for such a  price - So yes I'd keep and play

Such work does reduce values - but as a players grade vintage piece than keep n play

Cheers matey, just waiting to receive the cites certificate now.

i bought it to gig with and not have to worry and especially as it in the same region as a new SG classic it's a no brainer too!

Tempted to order a set of under wound p90s for it.

Choices choices, do I go Lollar, OX4, Oil city etc?

You could turn it upside down, nobody would probably notice.

The BK Nantuckets are nice as well - I have one on my Feline DC LP Jnr and swear by it - Lollars are nice with a big reputation but I'm not sure if they are to 'polite' but that depends on your tone and playing style and indeed the style of music you play - Not heard any P90's from Ash or OX4 but I'm sure they won't be inferior to your current set-up

I prefer lower output pickups as they articulate better to me and I like the airiness to them
