Isn't the I-O-W stretch of water the most expensive sea crossing per mile in the world??

It's certainly in the top three yes.

It's now about £80 return for a car to go across. We have a lot of customer's on the isle of wight. Several of them have small rib boats to get stock over as it's cheaper than using a pallet on wighlink ferries.

Last week another one needed some product urgently - they met our driver in Lymington on a Jet Ski which was the cheapest option to get a small parcel across the water.

Just booked return from U.K. To Santander on the overnight ferry for next July/August with dog friendly cabin. Just shy of £1300

    edit* with the car.
    I thought about that route
    why is it so much?

Because it saves driving through France. and it's a fair old distance for the ferry to travel. Food and drinks prices onboard were steep when I did it years ago. Captive audience, though!
