I don't know how Climax Blues Band slipped my mind, as they were from the part of the world where I originated, where I saw them live. Pete Haycock was a great player and went on the work with Hans Zimmer.

Thanks for reminding me. I think I'll go on a voyage of rediscovery.

    Insanely overlooked

Babylon by Bus - Bob Marley. Which is rock in a) a generic sense and b) contains excellent guitar solos. Al Anderson ( Paul Kossoff's room mate) and Junior Marvin ( who turned down a gig with Stevie Wonder to play with Marley)as well as Marley himself doing the six string stuff.

I'm from Stoke On Trent originally. They were based in Stafford IIRC, which is pretty close.

Tightly Knit is still a cracking album, if only for their version of Come on into my kitchen...Juggers unite...that's three on the forum and counting.

Great album! The guitar playing is great but the bass playing is truly sublime, divinely brilliant.

Some of the Climax Blues Band were still playing around the Stoke area at one time, in a band called The Barflies. I saw them a long time back when I was doing a work course up that way: BT had a training college at Yarnfield.

  • Yessongs - a band at the top of their game showcasing their best material and playing out of their skins. Not the best recording quality but the performance shines through.

Live Album - Grand Funk. Bit raw but that's part of the joy. 1970 so it ticks a box .

How can we have got this far into the thread and not had "Live at Leeds" by The Who?  One of the greatest live albums ever and an absolutely STONKING guitar sound.

Not much of a live albums buff, but...

Aerosmith: Live Bootleg (70s), "A Little South of Sanity" (not '70s - but absolutely awesome)
    AC/DC LIVE (not 70s)

There really isn't any other live albums I've ever really got into.

    So yeah.
