Advice Wanted: 1991 Gibson EB-650 Semi-Acoustic Bass

What's Hot

As some of you will have spotted, this is a recent acquisition.

However, I'm finding it hard to gather much in-depth info about the model, other than it was apparently only in production from 1991-1993 and produced in limited numbers (low hundreds at most - allegedly).

It's 34" scale, all maple body and neck, semi-hollow body with passive TB-Plus pickups.

It's something I doubt I'll keep in the long-term, but once agin, information is sketchy - I can't find a UK sale to gauge a price  against.

All info/suggestions gratefully received. :)

  • I know nothing about them.

I do however know that it looks effing cool and would look brilliant on my bass wall....

  • @HarrySeven - according to t'internets the 650 had super hot buckers in and a massive tone block which made them really really aggressive and punchy.. which explains why they were a flop as they sound nothing like they look...?

Have you had a chance to plug it in and give it a thumping to confirm?

  • Ooof. Vintage Guitar Price Guide says $3,100 - $3,850 for this (any colour)

It is bloody awesome but that's well past my spendy spendy budget!!!!!!!

Any interest in a vintage guild  60s f 20 in sunburst? For the bass?

Very nice. I'd definitely keep that and I don't even play bass.

Love the flowerpot inlay on the headstock - how strange for Gibson to do that on an instrument like this.
