What was your dream must have guitar as a lad, the one you had tae wait many years for before it became a reality?

For me it was the black LP Custom.....McLaughlin and the inner mounting flame and Jan Akkerman with Focus

Same - Gibson Les Paul Custom in ebony with gold hardware, & also influenced by Jan Ackerman amongst others. Couldn't afford the real thing then but lusted after a Shaftesbury LP copy (ebony, gold hardware) with hard case that I saved up for, put a deposit on, & bought for £65 from the Arcade Music Shop in North Finchley back in 1972. I later upgraded my pride and joy with a Dimarzio bridge h/b, phase switch, and Schaller machines, and it was my gigging guitar for many years. When I was 20 I bought my 1969 hardtail Fender Strat and gigged with both. Sold the Shaftesbury Les Paul when I bought a real LP Custom, many, many years later - but by which time my tastes had changed and I wanted it in tobacco sunburst not ebony.

This was as close as I could afford to get (not till I was 30 though, I had a wine red studio before that)... A 1960 Classic.

Proper strat. I went through the various stepping stones....squire, Mim, and eventually ended up with a CS in sonic blue. Had it for 2 years but really starting to bond with it now.

I had a yearning for Alex Lifesons semi. He was a bit pleased to see me. I don't even remember what guitar it was now, I lost interest in that style once I started playing

My first USA Strat - a 1980 heavyweight monstrosity - but it had a maple neck and said 'Fender' on the headstock. That was enough for me to feel I'd well and truly 'arrived'.

It was subsequently replaced with a couple of pre-CBS models but the first one was the one that really represented a dream come true.

For me it was Slash's LP Goldtop. I had an Korean epiphone goldtop a while back and it was boss, stupidly I sold it. I have to admit that Bruce Springsteen tele looks great too, adore real stripped back tele's, especially blackguards.

Mine was this Adam Devline (from the Bluetones) Rick. I am not sure what model it was and I've never actually got to play one. I wasn't a massive fan of the band I just thought it looked spectacular (and he is an underrated guitar player I think)

^ wisdom, he is a great player ^ he always had nice parts and great tone. The Bluetones were/are a really good underrated band. Really good live, too.

This was probably mine. Tied in with Clapton's Brownie, and a White Falcon, and maybe Slash's LP, until I caught my first glimpse of a white Custom.
