Anyway, thought there might be a few people vaguely interested, full page feature in my local free paper on the lovely Mr Davey who has done a couple of repairs for me and has long suffered @HarrySeven .

In fact, I was over there yesterday with the very talented Jo Bear, who's doing some custom paint job for Enter Shikari via Jamie.

Jamie is a top man.

He has done a few set ups for me. Superb. Couldnt recommend him highly enough.

He seemed (probably quite wisely) very difficult to get hold of when I tried, ie be blanked me for weeks Haha, but some of the stuff he's made for various folks looks lovely and he seems very popular so good on him I say

Lol...that's not unusual...I've known him for many years - he's always super-busy.

I met him for the first time a few weeks ago as I needed to replace the saddles on my PRS. I found him easy to get hold of and a really nice guy to talk to. He even turned the job around quickly so it didn't interfere with my regular playing sessions. Some of his custom builds are on the wall in his workshop and they look fantastic. If I need any other work doing, I'll definately go to him again and if I have some money burning a hole in my pocket I might just ask him to build me something nice.

Does he make his guitars himself, as the body and neck on mine are def premade? Not an issue but just curious.. Saying that mine is a very early one

I had a chat with him about this very thing. It depends what you want but generally the bodies and neck are premade and the accompaniments are yours to discuss with him. He also does a fully bespoke service too, but that's going to cost you more obviously.

@Sparky  makes sense,, mines my main electric guitar, and only cost me £120, with seymour duncans, I make my own pickups so I sold the sds for 100 quid, so the guitar only cost me 20 quid hehe...... Love a good bargain.

It does briefly mention this in the article ( the second link should be readable, my original photo probably isn't).

It's always nice to drool over stuff he has in for setups/repair. Some time ago, I popped round and he said "Oh, you've just missed Robert and Toyah" (!!!)

On the table were a pair of Robert Fripp's vintage Les Pauls (IIRC, a '59 and another - can't remember the year - both black though).
