9k for a guitar,, 60k for a watch, 2k for a pair of shoes 5k for a fridge... there always a small percentage of people who can afford this stuff and to them buying a 9k guitar is equivalent to me buying one for a fiver.  its all about aspiration too. someone seeing a 9k guitar but can only afford the £500 version (which to all intensive purposes looks the same)  will buy what they can afford or just over it.  So by making over expensive products its a form of marketing for the "cheaper" ones

Also to a reasonable extent sounds and plays the same as well.  The Gibsons are better than Epis but not THAT much better.

You are spot on though, only one reason to spend 9k on a guitar that is to all intents and purposes identical to one you could get used for 1.5k... because you can"
