Amusingly the thing these don't do is enhance your tone! They can make things super-bright, or hissy. It is a nice effect to have after a muff or bassy fuzz for variation in sound.
I like it best after a heavy comp like an old Dyna Comp or CS-1, use it to restore the top end, sounds v nice if a bit artificial.

...and only one mention of Mr Kingsley
I compared the boost of my bard and jester alongside the fat boost and it had the same character, plus the extra tone and slight gain control.
The strymon deco is great for thickening your sound plus other effects.
The fat boosts are cheap. V1 sounds great.
Yep, I was just commenting on my surprise that Kingsley hadn't been mentioned more in this context in this thread. Your experience with the fat boost is interesting..
Yeah, it was one of those days that you go around your mate's to show off your new Kingsley and he says nice then goes on to demonstrate how well his fat boost compares; and to make the injury worse, demonstrates the tone and drive control, a very light grit, you know, the light grit many are after when they call it a transparent drive.
Actually, sod it, I'm going to get one too; they're cheap enough over here.

The Tumnus has more low end I believe.

  • The Tumnus is by far my favourite Klone.  It’s got some girth to it.
