I grew up with cats at Mums and dogs at dads. Love em both. Would love a cat in addition to our dogs, alas my daughter is highly allergic to cats. Saying that our beagle has very cat like behavior.

Good news and bad news about our dog. The exploratory op yesterday showed up nothing physically wrong, so that's ruled out a tumour, hernia and cancer. But it also means they still can't pin down the root cause of his vomiting and it's likely to be something like irritable bowel disease. That means he's going to be on steroids and anti emetics for the foreseeable future, which sadly will probably shorten his life. 

On a positive note, he's recovered very well from the op and has apparently eaten this morning with no problem. We get him back home tomorrow. The Rottweiler (aka my wife) has also given the insurance company a piece of her mind and they've agreed to pay up for the op (all 1500 quids worth! ) after cocking up and initially refusing to cover it.
