Some colours are just right for one particular guitar though. Olympic White is one of the best Strat colours, but white Les Pauls are an abomination. TV Yellow is absolutely the best Les Paul Junior colour but would look awful on a Strat. And so on.
Yup, well put - I fully agree with the theme.  I could live with a white LP Custom with gold fittings though - not my fav colour, but I could live with it.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

Oh and green over flame/quilt but I do like Olive/drab greens
No no no.  A nice emerald green flame/quilt is the most hideous finish you can get.
    Yep I agree! ;)

I don't actually have a problem with green - but quilt should be banned from being used on guitars...

Quilty Blues or greens no no no. I briefly had a Gary Clark jr Casino in Blak n Blu burst, lovely guitar but the colour was'nt doing it for me at all.

Its like the more expensive and blingy they get, the cheaper they look, you instantly think Aliexpress

    That's bloody stunning.
Y'see that looks like an alien vomited over a guitar and it got clear coated.

Thats all that I don't like about PRS in one guitar. And I say that as a PRS (USA) owner.
One of the nicest colour/finishes I've seen on any guitar.

    Ha.  so many opinion.

I was soooo close to a custom order suhr a few years back.

Emerald green over quilt maple....and gold hardware.  Must be the biggest abomination going for most folks here.

But white ESP eclipses are sweet.

This just looks like they started the sunburst and gave up halfway through.

I generally hate the fancier PRS, however I rather like this... has a nice liquid look to it :)

Friend of mine - and this was the late 1980s when we were teens jamming out new wave punk noises - had a pink Paisley patterned Tokai Tele. Lovely guitar, but I always thought it looked horrendous. He traded it in and got peanuts for it. I now believe it was quite rare and worth something. Probably one of you guys could enlighten me on this?

Not a fan of the bling up finishes.
Really don't like natural or stained finishes, especially on mahogany. You know, the sort that makes the guitar looks like a sideboard from your Nan's house c.1979.
Solid colours is where's it's at, or solid top, natural back and sides always awesome.

I love silverburst when it's done right, but so many of them look absolutely awful. The epiphone and esp ltd ones are good examples of how not to do it imo. They're not really a burst, more of a "mostly silver with a ring of black that we've barely tried to blend in to make it look nice"

  • Not keen on the sunburst finishes.
