The G&L trem is absolutely superb.

An offset with all that unused space below the bridge looks wrong.

I completely agree, it just won’t feel or sound like a proper JM. Which is fine; most of us offset-traditionalists are a bit odd.

    Ah - I getcha.

To me this is the lovely shape with pretty much the best traditional trem on it. Not knocking the "proper" offset trem at all, but I like something a bit wigglier.

That would definitely do it for me.

Other than the green metalflake ASAT Classic I once found a pic of, this is the G&L I have wanted the most since I became aware they existed. Jazzmaster-style pickups, which are great, combined with a great trem that would be far easier to set up in a way that I would find comfortable to play. Switch is in the wrong place though.

Surf Green and a rosewood board with block inlays for me please.

Also, the top knob placement seems a bit high.

Just spotted these have the volume/treble/bass controls. Those are very, very useful.

Agreed.  When I put together my DIY TeleCustomMaster I put PTB in instead of individual volume/tone controls, and it works a treat.  Dialling back on the bass really helps with bigger, woolier drive or fuzz sounds.

I think these look great (especially the black and tort one with the maple block-inlayed neck).

I like them more than the Fender offset models but still not for me I'm afraid.

Weirdly I think the Jazz Bass is one of the nicest looking instruments around but I've never loved the look of an offset guitar.

I wonder how much the tribute ones will go for...
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Good spot - I'm interested. Played a L2000 Tribute for years and it cost me just £300. Incredible workhorses.
