    I'm led to believe that was the first version of a voice box - sadly I recall it on Junior Choice Radio in the 70's - Sat morning with Ed Stewpot I think it was ?????????????????
    I'm not sure to be honest, I think I got a lot of my knowledge of old music from Jimmy Saville's Old record Club, but I could be wrong. Nobody in school in the 80s, when playing Trivial Pursuit one day, could understand how I knew what the Chattanooga Choo Choo was or who Lieutenant Pigeon was. Philistines!

    they usually creep me out. something seedy and gimp-masky about that crushed/emaciated gasping-for-breath sound. gimpy mixed with the throat cancer boxes that people press on.
    the stephen hawking voice is a less gimpy more desolate/mournful update. as if he has the weight of the universe on his shoulders. which reminds me.
