Did we just have an earthquake in Reading ?

just sitting in the front room with Mrs sev112 and daughter

sudden dull thump and the ceiling light shakes sideways...

Been round all the rooms upstairs  looking for something that has fallen down but nothing 

maybe a ghost ?

Could be. We had one up north a few years ago, in the middle of the night. It confused the bejeesus out of me.

This is one is cool
shows earthquakes in the past 2 weeks, locations, magnitude diameter) and when (colour).  After 2 weeks it changes to a purple dog and stays there for ever, which is great for showing the plate boundaries

I remember that one. Middle of the night, woke up, house wobbling, unusually for me, went straight back to sleep. We were all talking about it in the morning. It was the first earthquake we'd knowingly experienced. Wasn't the epicentre of that one in wales, somewhere..?

We had one in Grimsby a few years ago.Woke up in the middle of the night with a whole room shaking for about five seconds.Very scary.


There where whole streets badly damaged with the costs running into several tens of pounds.

So was it one?
I too experienced the one a few years ago, I thought it was an earthquake because the house creaked in a sort of wave moving across from one side to the other. Not like a normal house settling kind of creak, of which we get plenty.
