Pickup Wire Too Short

So i'm in the middle of replacing both volume pots on my epi les paul and tidying up my 50s wiring, but one of the pickup wires is a little short - it's in the cavity by about an inch, but my life would be easier if i had a little slack to play with.

Whats the best way to extend the wire? any tips/tricks/pointers?

It's a seymour duncan humbucker with braided shield (2 core/conductor) wire if that helps (or hinders)?

Solder and sheath extension wires to the original, it'll be fine

If you haven't done this already, check it's not got caught the wrong way round one of the pickup legs in the pickup cavity. That shortens the cable somewhat :).

If it's not that, what sweepy said - add a couple of extension wires and heatshrink over. The extension doesn't need to be shielded over a short distance like that.
