Help finding a suitable amplifier

I’d like to get an amplifier And I am leaning towards a 68 Princeton Reverb Custom, as I have had a 6V6  in the past and quite liked it.

Criteria are relatively compact and lightweight, reverb, fender type cleans  with early break up at sociable volumes.

Maximum budget of about £700

What do you mean by sociable volumes?

I've got 68 PR Custom, and there's no way I could get it to break up at volumes that won't annoy the neighbours. Takes pedals well though.  Thorpy Peacekeeper in front of it is great.

Well breaking up on faster attack at 30-40% volume which seems to be what these are good at. Whether that’s sociable or not depends on the neighbors I suppose :)

  • I find my 68 Princeton too loud for the house but then I play in a small room. Definitely only got it to break up with the attenuator plugged in
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

Juketone Royal Blood 10 + Swart Night Light Junior.

About £480 all in and goes from v quiet to v loud with no loss of tone.  Break up at any volume you choose and very clean up to far too loud for home.

And a reverb pedal of your choice.

  • Thanks for input guys. Ended up deciding on a Princeton 68 - I see what you mean about loud, no chance of breakup at lower volumes, but I think the fat cleans more than make up for it. Plus a nice od in the front takes care of it for when I want it. I may end up with a 5w or 10w at some point like the juketone at some point or a @4114Effects danplifier tweed if I can scratch up the funds now!

Even the little Juketone is very loud - as loud as my 65 PRRI was - but adding the Night Light Junior has had a massive effect.  Switched out is has no effect but switched in it can go as loud as you like, either clean or from dirty to very dirty.

See if you can find one to try.

  • Make an L-pad attenuator and you're laughing. Parts cost about £25.

Any good sources for the parts or kit as well as instructions? Never done anything like this so seems like a good way to start.
