Is this legit?

Saw this and thought it looked interesting but I thought the studio was introduced in the 90s. Also not seen this colour before???

The studio was first introduced in the early or mid 80s I think. That one looks used in a lovely way, and like the colour, only on my mobile and just out of bed so not making any claims on its realness.

1983 was the first year, I believe, and the dot neck is correct. I can't comment on the originality of the colour but the guitar otherwise looks legit.

The Studio was introduced in 1983 so this is one of the very earliest. I don't think the pickguard is original, the knobs may not be, and the case definitely isn't, but otherwise it looks legit. They did do them in blue.

agree that it looks legit so no issues on that score - over the years Gibson will release many special colours either for major shows like NAMM or indeed some of the big USA Dealers like Guitar Centre will commission exclusive special runs from time to time - same as they did  variations with ebony and rosewood f/board - dot or trapezoid inlays - I recall earlier LP Studio models had a slightly thicker body, as per a Std - Most today are a tad slimmer

I vaguely recall Music UK magazine reviewing the original LP Studio in the early Eighties. The Challenger II and Corvus were released at about the same time.
