R6 has the same pickups and wood, the only notable difference is slightly thinner neck binding if that bothers you. (And possibly the pots, but they're too cheap to swing it). 

Just buy it.

Ah but the R6 would have been lovingly crafted by Gibsons finest custom shop artisans, sprinkled with fairy dust, and specially custom wound pickups that were rolled on virgins thighs.

Don't bother, Gibson's current offerings look decent in the stock photos but the majority that I've seen in person have been sub-par from a fit and finish standpoint, especially in comparison to the quality they were producing around 10-15 years ago

It has a metal jack plate which is definitely a step up from the Historics
