Change of speaker

As someone who loves things stock, save PUPs, I found a Weber Blue Dog speaker I had bought a long time ago.

My amp is a Cornell Romany, 10 watt with a 10 inch speaker.

If I put the 12 inch Weber in the cabinet will it sound bad? I'd like to 'open up' the Cornell. It's a bit boxy with the 10 inch speaker.

Thoughts welcome.

Not enough guitars, pedals, and cricket bats.

The 10" Romany always has a reputation for being a bit boxy. A change to a 12" would make a huge difference. There are some comparison clips on Cornell's website which demonstrate this. What I can't tell you is whether it'll fit.   If no-one on here knows, a quick email to Dennis will get you an answer.

  • If you want to put the 12" in the original combo it'll need to be modded, which will cost a little bit after buying the ply and the grille cloth. It'll probably be just as cheap to buy an empty 1x12 cab and try it that way. If you don't like it then you sell the cab on and maybe the speaker too.
