So a major shift around in my guitar "family" was called for (hence some sales threads) and I recently found myself the owner of two "new" guitars.
Firstly, a Classic Players 50s strat. Nothing special you may say, particularly the strat haters amongst us, but this one fulfils all of my Fender needs. Just goes to show that "Made in Mexico" doesn't have to have any negative connotations. I love it.
And secondly, the most commanding and authoritative guitar I've owned. Just a beauty. An R6 Historic Goldtop.
I tried a genuine 52 Goldtop Trapeze in 2000 when Flea from Vintage & Rare in Denmark Street saw me coming in and said "Merlin, I want you to have a look at this"....and passed me the then 48 year old, all original guitar. I couldn't believe how it played, looked and sounded and was gutted that I didn't have a spare £8500.
Well 17 years later, I have this....and I have to say that I totally love everything about it.
Happy now, with three electrics (R9, Classic Player 50s and Trussart Steeldeville) and my gorgeous Kay Archtop. I think I'm staying where I am for a while....

I must agree re the Mex Classic reissues, lovely things.
Since getting my '60's version it has become my main player and am seriously thinking about a '50's version too.
Not played one before - how do you find the V neck?
2 thumbs up, love them both.
Congratulations
