Adverts for those appeared regularly in American guitar magazines.

I have no idea how scarce that model is. Somebody on this forum will either remember or still have copies of the advertisements and reviews.

They were bought in to the UK by Freestyle Music, about 2005/2006 I bet they still have some dead stock kicking around, I don't think they sold many in to retailers, they displayed them at Music Live year after year, never saw one sold

It looks excellent quality in fairness. It can't be cheap nor easy to do that binding.

For some reason this looks way better than the 6 string.

Didn't Minarik start out as a very small US custom builder, then gained some celebrity players and branch out into Korean production really quickly? Sort of like BC Rich but in a much shorter timescale and with much uglier guitars.

Yeah, they still have a US Production, but are making higher end Korean guitars, the Korean inferno starts at over $1000.

I quite like their Scroll model but that's US only.

  • The only place that I remember advertising these was Brandoni Music - I wonder if they still have any?

I’ve got one, bought it from Brandoni nearly eight years ago.

I love mine, it plays very nicely, chunky neck, Seymour Duncan pickups as standard.
    Standard of build is excellent.

I paid £400 for it, new with case.

    They’ve gone up slightly http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/minarik.asp
£449 for the quilt top ones.

I found it was a lovely guitar to play live and sounds great, and way more versatile than the shape would suggest, but very long in length so you’re always in danger of knocking one of the pointy bits on someone/something.

I've been tempted several times by cheap USA models, but (*even for me*), they are so f*cking hideous that I'd live in fear of a visit from the Taste Police.

    Hot pick-ups as well

Might be good for a Slade in Flame tribute band

  • Do flames come out of the top too?

...Might be seen by some nanny state types as a health and safety risk.
