    Most Chinese copies have a squared off rear control plate, this is as per the original and the neck joint is incredibly neat

    No idea tbh, Basswood perhaps, or some form of mahogany. I’ve had some Korea Epiphones in with Mahogany that was almost the same colour as maple . I shall investigate further after I give it a setup
