  • The only issue with a pedal trem is that I prefer the sound of trem after reverb and I use the amps reverb!

  • The Trelicopter is great, or the Boo Instruments Tremolo is on my board at the moment and is superb

Another vote for the Fulltone Supatrem. It does exactly what a trem pedal should do.

    Trelicopter, small, cheap, sounds great.

Never seen one of those before - that looks great, though the form factor and wood box is a bit off putting.

  • Swamp thang, sounds like that deep throbbing amp trem rather than chop and stutter.

For versatility and weird sounds, the EHX Stereo Pulsar is hard to beat. Normal or regular use, you can't go wrong with a Boss TR-2.
I found my Boss TR-2 just felt like it dropped a ton of signal. Really noticeable against my Trelicopter that has a nice little boost to cancel out the perceived volume drop.

I've got the black fulltone one. The 3 footswitches allow a variety of sounds without knob twiddling. I've got mine set for two types of trem-gimme shelter and how soon is now.

  • I've tried a few and settled on Spaceman Voyager 1. To me it sounds more than like an "amp tremolo" than a "pedal tremolo". very organic and full sounding

The Supro tremolo pedal is amazingly swampy and lush

Yeah, that sounds great ( not cheap though!). IIRC you can choose between harmonic and a more blackface type tremolo. The Surfy Bear Surftrem offers that choice as well, seems great too ( cheaper, although not cheap).

  • Diamond TR1 for me, lots of wave shapes plus tap tempo and time sig divide.

Is there a pedal that does a Vox amp style tremolo (amplitude & frequency modulated)?

Isn't the ThorpyFX one based on that?

I wasn't aware that any Vox amps did a harmonic (frequency) tremolo, are you sure?   Which amp model are you thinking of?

There are quite a number of pedals nowadays that do harmonic tremolo, yes.

There's a setting on the EHX Wiggler (tube pedal) that apes the Vox AC tremolo.    Vox did a pedal about ten years that did the same, I believe.

iirc the Thorpy tremolo is based on the Vox Repeat Percussion circuit.  That was not used in amps (except maybe in certain USA Thomas Organ Vox amps of a certain era in the 1960s), but as a plug-in device and built into guitars.   The Vox Repeat Percussion is a reverse sawtooth waveform tremolo; nothing to do with either harmonic tremolo or Vox AC amp tremolo.

  • The Supro trem is lovely, has a harmonic mode and drive dial as well. Think it can run on 100mA.
