Get rave reviews; "they're expensive" everyone says, "but they're super quality and easy to make". 

They're wrong; I've just made ten, and I found them no more expensive than other SIS cables, and eventhough they're not difficult to make, no one mentions how fiddly they are, what a mess they make and how sore your thumbs get!

Fiddly?  I would've said soldering is way more fiddly if you don't have the right kit. I swear buy the EA sis. Never let me down and easy to assemble imo 

Use a rag or glove to finally tighten though which will save your fingers

They are well worth the money, 0 faults so far.  I found that 3m of cable is cheaper on Thomann too (about £16)

£16 for 10ft/3m vs...close to £5 per foot in the UK, 10ft in the UK is around £50!!

If you're an adopted Yorkshireman living up to the short arms / long pockets stereotype, you can use stranded core cable with the core carefully soldered, cut to length and then screwed into the plugs.
