Here is a bit of a Gibson oddity, from 1971. It's an SG200, only around 750 of these were ever made and they are quite lovely (the neck is probably my favourite Gibson neck ever, a fat U shape with a thick slab of brazilian rosewood on it and chunky frets). It was modified in the early 80's with what are apparently first run dimarzio super distortions (the exact same pups al di meola used), which over the years have lost a bit of output and now just sound like amazing PAF's. The switching has independent coil taps for each pickup and a three way selector, for loads of tonal options. It balances really really well, condition wise it has a few dings and scrapes and has a bit of checking; but hey that's real relicing for you! Anyhow, I'm jonesing for a strat or something Fenderish, so if you fancy a vintage Gibson that wont break the bank drop me a pm!

£425 ONO!

Will get more pics up soon.

Some firm interest but no biters yet. To expand the trade pool i'd certainly be interested in an acoustic or a jazzmaster/ offset type.

  • What's the equivalent Jazzmaster you'd be looking for? I have a Classic Player Jazzmaster available.

Still quite interested in this but I suppose the only real thing holding me back is finding a good recording of it online to get an idea of what it sounds like, or even more "reference" material for it.

It looks cool as hell but do you have any of the above?

(not questioning the authenticity of it at all! just curious :))

Reference; al di meola early recordings when he used that lp with white dimarzios is pretty close.

I could record some clips but it wouldn't be for a few weeks unfortunately

I've always been under the impression Gibson stopped using Brazilian in '67.

What is the neck profile like on this, compared to current range Gibsons?
Can you tell me the weight please?
And a picture of the neck joint is probably easier to understand than asking for a description (or you could try both :)  )
    Thanks.

Hi guys, thanks for the interest. Re. the case i really foolishly sold it with another guitar a while back so no it doesn't have the original though i could find one for a bit extra. Re the weight i'd guess at around 8lbs but I don't have very accurate scales, it's bigger than current SG's. Neck shape is similar to the current fat U shape on LP traditionals but without the very pronounced shoulders.

Oh yeah, and the tuners were changed (before I got it) to early schallers, they hold the tuning much better but aren't original. Re the fretboard I guess it isn't brazilian then, it just looked it as it has a bit of an orangey streak through it in places, sorry!
