Ah... the other type of scam this time.

Genuine seller, but fake guitar .

That one's on my watch list.
Not because I want to buy it, just because I'll be interested to see what it goes for.

  • Love the logo on that - much more period correct ones are freely available at most guitar shows....

  • I don't quite understand the marks at the end of the headstock. Has a child been digging in hard with a biro?

    This added to the listing...

    ”Hi again,
I'm receiving many, many messages saying that they do not think certain parts are real, even dubious about the neck. Can I add once again, don't buy this if you are a collector of rare Fender parts, this guitar has lived a heavily modified.

All that I can be certain with you about is that all pots work well, the pickups sound great & can produce a variety of tones between them, the neck is super fast to play on, there is lots of fret life and the whole thing holds its tuning well.

Please remember what the purpose of this instrument is: to play and sound darn amazing

Also, the 3 case latches work okay. One sticks a bit but overall it's in decent condition.

    Thank you again guys”

why are ebay letting these people get away with this?... some poor sod has bid nearly £800 for this plank!

  • To be fair, he's now saying:

    ESSENTIAL READING:

I've got a few messages from ebayers saying that they don't think that the neck or body are at all genuine. I've been under the impression that this guitar was mostly original since when I bought it from my friend (especially the important parts). However, because these people disagree I have had to come to the decision that the neck and body are not to have been made by Fender.

I have contacted the current highest bidder (as of 18:30) to see what their decision is.
If no response I will retract the auction regardless.

Although I am deeply saddened that the neck and body are not original, there are other redeeming features about this guitar that I hope you can see.
    Thanks for the interest everybody.
Also, thanks to the expertise of a crowd of people to help provide the correct information (200+ watchers!)
